1. CHOOSE A LOCATION.
I am very happy to discuss location options (studio, at-home or outdoors)! I have also provided a list of location ideas below you can browse over. You will need to notify me of your final choice at least a week prior to the session date so I can finish writing up and send both the contract and invoice.
2. BOOK A STUDIO (IF APPLICABLE).
All clients are responsible for booking a studio for the allotted time asap to avoid the studio booking out during our scheduled time. I am always available to discuss different studio options and have also provided a list of studios you can browse over below.
3. SIGN THE MAIN CONTRACT (2/2).
The Main contract must be read, signed and submitted prior to the start of our session. This will be emailed to you sometime during the week of our session at the same time as the invoice (after you have notified me of your chosen location). If you have not received the contract by the day before your session, please reach out. If you receive the invoice but not the contract, check spam as contracts sometimes go there.
4. Fulfill the REMAINING SESSION FEE BALANCE + TAX + TRAVEL.
This is due the day of the session and will be sent through an invoice to your email sometime during the week prior to the session and at the same time as the main contract (after you have notified me of your chosen location).

Studios

Do you own a studio?
I am not affiliated with any studio (including but not limited to their booking fees, scheduling or cancelation fees, etc.). Clients are responsible to contact the studio of choice to book. You can of course, choose a studio not listed below.
Are there any studios you recommend?
Yes! I have a list of studios I think would be best linked below.
What time frame is best for me to book a studio?
For the best lighting, I typically schedule studio sessions to start between 10 am - 1 pm. I cannot stress this enough - make sure to book your studio session within this time frame. If a studio is booked later on in the day, the lighting may not be ideal.
Do you know of any studio discounts?
Yes! If you decide you would like to do your newborn session at a studio, I purchased some discounted hours through the "Wild Willow Studio" in downtown Salt Lake City. If you decide you would like to move forward with booking there, you would just pay me $25 for 1 hour or $50 for 2 hours, etc. and then I would give you the code(s) to schedule with them. I bought a handful of hours in hopes of helping decrease extra costs as studio fees are often around $70/hour or more. (For travel fee info to this studio, refer above to the section titled Studios.)

Prices listed next to the studio are the calculated travel fee, not the studio fee.

Outfit Ideas

Figuring out what to wear can be very stressful and difficult – trust me, I know.

Because of this, I have also provided some links below to help!

I always will recommend using neutral colors with small amounts of pattern or texture.

  1. Choose a favorite color palette. Note: the more creams and browns, etc you use the warmer the overall look will appear. The more blues and whites you use, the cooler the overall look will appear.
  2. Start with one outfit (ex. mom's).
  3. Choose the rest of the outfits using your color palette. Use patterns and texture in very small amounts. For example: one outfit with a large pattern (ex. mom's dress) and the rest are solid colors with small amounts of texture (ex. a sweater).

I have put together a lot of different outfit combinations to further help you along the way (examples below) and are all found in my Amazon Storefront and LTK.

Sessions with Children

Always come to your session with the expectation that your young kids are not going cooperate how you imagine - especially for the entire session. That is VERY normal and happens with every family. Plus, being a mother myself, I am a huge advocate of capturing the kids exactly how they are playing, looking at me, etc. When it comes down to it, looking at me and smiling at the camera is just a fraction of how I like to go about sessions. So how can you prepare?

  • Bring lots of snacks!
  • Bubbles, or other toys
  • A blanket and jacket/coat (especially during the cold months of the year)
  • Plan on arriving a few minutes early to change your kids into the clothes they will wear. This takes the stress out of any possibility of spills happening while on the drive.
  • Do your best to relax and not stress about this, as you definitely are not the only parent who worries about this. ðŸ˜‰

Newborn Sessions

  • Depending on the type of session you chose, it can range from 1 hour to 2 – 2.5 hours. If you’re on the fence about doing family pictures, just remember they are included in both, and I think you will look back and be happy you chose to be in them!
  • In order to make the most out of our time together, do the best you can to make sure your baby is fed about 20-30 minutes prior to the start of your session.
  • Do your best to time your baby’s nap to be during the session by keeping your baby awake 1-2 hours prior to leaving.
  • If you would like, bring a favorite blanket and/or outfit to take pictures in! Parents with a girl, bring your favorite bows!
  • If your session is at a studio, remember to bring your diaper bag with diapers, wipes and a bottle if needed, etc. Certain studios provide diapers and wipes, however not all do.
  • If you would like to review what is included in the Newborn Session you chose, go to the "Investment" Tab.

Miscellaneous INFO:

Is there anything I need to be aware of?
I do my best to notice things out of place, phones or keys in pockets, keys on belt loops, etc. Even if your phone is in a back pocket, it will show up. Because it is impossible for me to see everything the entire time, I would recommend bringing a bag for cell phones and other items. Also keep in mind that once you take everything out of your pockets, do not put them back in your pockets midway through the session. When there is snow, it doesn’t hurt to bring boots you can walk in and then change out of during the session. This will be especially helpful with shoes without traction. Avoid chewing gum during your session. Just like items in pockets, it is guaranteed to show up in your pictures. Make sure to notify me of any special accommodations or special circumstances in which I need to be aware of. If you are going to use confetti, make sure to purchase biodegradable confetti.
What time should I start my session?
Outdoors: Morning - starting as close to sunrise as possible. Afternoon - ending around 60 minutes prior to sunset (Specifics on time depend on your chosen location) Indoors: Between 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. These guidelines are for best even lighting and the look I strive to achieve. Scheduling outdoor sessions later in the morning or earlier in the afternoon provides a different look with harsher lighting.
How do I know if I will have a travel fee?
Travel fees are required for locations 20 miles+ (round trip) and are based on the federal going rate of 65.5 cents per mile. The first 20 miles however, are free. Example: 25 miles-20 miles x 0.655 = $3.28
Do I get to choose my own photos?
Yes! I send out a proofing gallery of unedited watermarked images (between 100-300) where you get to choose your favorites for me to edit.
Can I purchase more images than what my packages comes with?
Yes! You can choose as many extra images as you would like for $5/extra image
Can I order prints/albums from you?
Because I believe photos need to be printed with easy access to look at them constantly, You have the option of ordering professional prints/albums directly from your gallery! I also offer Photo Books of your session designed by me!
